What is CORE?

CORE is a Church of Ireland church, but unlike a traditional parish church, CORE was established in 1997 as a Trust within the constitution of the Church of Ireland. The Minister in charge is responsible to the Archbishop of Dublin, however rather than having a narrow parish focus CORE has a citywide remit and the assets of the church are held by the Trust rather than centrally.

People from many different backgrounds and traditions worship at CORE and all are welcome. The focus that draws people together is not so much the denomination CORE is part of – but the Vision and Ministry of the Church.

Why become a member of CORE?

The main benefit of being a member of CORE is that it enables you to participate in the Annual General Meeting and be part of the decision making process that takes place there – including the nominating and voting of people onto the Nehemiah Group

What is expected of me as a member of CORE?

The only requirements in order to sign up to being a member of CORE are

  1. That you support the Vision of CORE
  2. That you profess the Christian Faith and believe in the Trinity
  3. That you have been coming to the church for at least 3 months
  4. That you are over the age of 18

CORE desires to recognise, value and protect the rich tradition and heritage of the many Christian denominations from which its members come and choosing to be a member of CORE expressly does not involve any breaking with that heritage.

What does a typical member do?

Whilst CORE does not make specific activities a basis for qualification for membership, members are encouraged to take an active, participatory role in the church in the following ways:

  1. Join in the weekly Sunday Services
  2. Join a Small Group
  3. Tithe (Give Financially) in a responsible way to the church
  4. Get involved in a CORE Ministry that reflects your gifts

How can I become a member?

If you would like to become a member of CORE please complete the form below. We will email you a document outlining the Vision, Governance and Membership of CORE Church and a membership sign up sheet.

Once you have read the Vision, Governance and Membership document and if you recognise and appreciate the principles set out there and seek to engage with them, we ask that you would print out, complete and return the membership form either sending it to CORE or dropping it in at the information desk.

This form asks that you declare that you have for the past three calendar months been, and now are, an accustomed member of the congregation attending CORE in the church of St Catherine in the Diocese of Dublin, and that you wish to be recognised as a member of CORE.
