A Day in the Life of Solas

The children arrive at 2.30 straight from school. We play some games together and have a time to chat about the school day and share any news.

We then have a meal together. This gives us a further chance to talk, get to know each other better as well as eating some hot, nourishing food.

The children then have time to do their homework with guidance from the workers and volunteers. Solas aims to foster a positive approach to learning and education. This is achieved by using alternative and fun methods of learning e.g. computers, games and interaction within the group.

Homework time is followed by a different fun activity each day. The activities include cookery, arts and crafts, sports, gardening, swimming, team games and more. The activities are designed to develop the children’s abilities, self-confidence, communication and social skills.

The children then have a snack before going home at 6pm.
