CORE Week of Prayer – 6th – 13th March

Our week of prayer is NEXT WEEK!! It is starting on Sunday 6th March and slots are available from 1pm on Sunday. The prayer room will be open from 8am-8pm each day. Come for an hour or two and pray for the church, the city and the nation! I would encourage you to come in and use the prayer room, it will be set up as an interactive prayer space, but I know for some of you that might not be possible so feel free to sign up for an hour and pray at home – just let me know if you will be using the room or not so we can arrange for someone to let you in!

CORE Kids Volunteers Bring and share lunch

Calling all CORE Kids volunteers!! On Sunday 13th March we are having another Bring and share lunch for all those who help out with CORE Kids. This will be an opportunity get to know your fellow volunteers a bit better and time for a chat and catch up. The CORE Kids team will also fill you in on upcoming events. So come along with your family, bring some lunch, and some to share! Look forward to seeing you all there – CORE Kids Team.

Big Spring Clean Review

Many thanks to everyone who helped out at the CORE spring clean on Saturday. It was a great success and the church is looking really well! Please try and keep it looking this well by tidying up after yourselves. If we all make the effort keeping it clean will be easy! Thanks again to everyone who gave up their Saturdays, you did a super job! – Sarah Railton

Latin Link Information Evening – Monday 7th March 7.45pm

Come along and catch up with – or meet for the first time – the Latin Link community in Ireland. Providing insights into various parts of Latin America will be Verna Langrell (Brazil), Peter and Karen Thompson (Bolivia), Davina Gilbert (Nicaragua) and Laura Carey (Argentina). We look forward to hearing from them – and to having you join us on Mon 7th March at 7:45pm in Adelaide Road Presbyterian Church.

Rediscovering St. Patricks Day Gathering

As part of 24-7 prayer Ireland’s “What if?” Year of Prayer (see www.24-7prayerireland.com/what-if/) churches, schools and communities across Dublin are praying throughout March (CORE being one of these!!). As a celebration of all the prayer that will be happening we will be gathering together with all these groups on the evening of March 17th.
As well as a chance to hear stories from prayer rooms around the city we will also be hearing from Hazel Mulhare who will be sharing what she has being learning about the significance of St. Patrick and our early Christian heritage here in Ireland. Also we would love to hear your stories, prayers and facts about Patrick so do bring some along! So make a day of it, go see the parade and then come along and join us in Immanuel Church on Bachelors Walk at 7pm to celebrate the true meaning of St. Patricks Day with us!

Ministry Focus: Kidz Klub Junior Leaders

The ‘junior leaders club’ came about, as kids from the area outgrew Kidz Klub but wanted to keep going, how amazing is that!! Paddy and some of the Kidz Klub volunteers put together a group originally for the girls only that would meet once a month to have fellowship, cook some treats and learn some more about God. Now we have up to 12 kids coming every week both boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18.
The format is much like a home group, we start with a light meal, then have a teaching – at the moment we are working through the gifts of the Holy Spirit – and finish off with a couple of games. We have various outings, having recently been on a night walk to Cruagh Wood (you can only imagine the screaming!!) and we are linked in with other youth groups around the city including Dublin Christian Mission (beside the four courts) and 3Rock and also CORE Kids. Many of the junior leaders now come along to church on a Sunday.
I love volunteering with this group, because the kids are so much fun, and in an area that is so dark, taken over by a cycle of poverty, drugs and alcohol – these kids are the bright future, they will break the mould. They will crack you up, give you a headache and melt your heart all in one evening. If you want to know Gods plans for Dublin 8, this is where it is. – Clodagh O Reilly

Prayer Requests and Thanksgivings

• Give thanks for the relationships that have been built with the Kidz Klub mums over the years and pray for wisdom as we look to further developing them.
• Pray for our new leaders Enda Kenny and Eamon Gilmore and their teams as they start the process of negotiation for a coalition government this week.
• Pray that all our elected TDs would be people of integrity, honesty and compassion as they seek to serve our country in this difficult period.
• Pray for a family in Mark Railton’s church in Carrickfergus who have two children with vanishing white matter syndrome (a very rare genetic disease that is fatal). There is no cure. Pray for healing for Noah and Gracie and pray for their parents Greg and Sarah.
• Continue to pray for the church in Nepal for reassurance from God that the dream they have experienced (turmoil is coming in Nepal) will be part of His plan for the harvesting of the nation.
