Review of Last Sunday: Clowns For Haiti

Thank you all especially Jon for giving us the opportunity of sharing what has been happening since we started our support of The School of Miracles in Haiti last Dec 09. It is probably quite different when one walks into a church and sees a stage and a bunch of clowns in full regale! The fun stuff has a meaning and purpose and we will follow on this theme until God shows us something better!
The people in Core have supported, and helped set up this charity which is now registered. It was great just to share how God has been with us encouraging us and reinforcing with real results as we stepped forward to help. Great things are emanating from this little Church in the centre of Dublin that is reaching out to many to offer hope near and far. I was extremely privileged and proud to stand out on Sunday and share with others in our team but one of the most wonderful things was when Jon, in his summary, drew certain comparisons and resemblances to our performance and Monty Python!
If any one has any offers of items for our Christmas Clown Box Appeal please contact myself Dorothy, Patricia O’Don from the church. Many thanks, Pete and Pete!
Your Church Needs You! Volunteers Opportunities

We are currently recruiting volunteers for a number of areas in the church – Powerpoint, sound and the Welcome team. Currently all of these would involve being on duty on a Sunday once a month. If there is another area in the church that would you be interested in volunteering please let us know. Contact Amy at pa.corechurch@gmail.com or on 01-4735100.
Alpha Course 2011 – Recruiting Leaders

The Alpha course is a 10-week course that is open to everyone interested in discovering what Christianity is about and is designed primarily for those who are not churchgoers. We are planning to run an Alpha course in the New Year and are currently looking to gather a team of people interested in helping out. We are holding a training evening for those interested on the evening of Sunday the 7th November. Paddy Monaghan of Alpha Ireland will be coming along to speak at this. If you are interested talk to Jon and come along on the 7th!

Hope you all can make it, can you pass this on to any other musicians/singers who you think may be interested. It will be a mixture of Irish trad music, bluegrass, folk, and any singer/songwriter songs anyone wants to sing. All welcome!!
Venue: The Clock Pub, 110-111 Thomas Street, Dublin 8 (opposite the Meath Street junction, beside National College of Art & Design).
Just to let you know, we raised €320 for the Trad for Trocaire night, thanks a mil for all you who came and/or supported this event, it actually was a great night, the Snug Room in the Clock was packed and we had lots of people sing at the open mic and a few locals came in and one or two of them sang too. Cheers, Barry

Review of Jobcare Supporters Evening Thursday 21st October

Last Thursday we hosted the annual Jobcare Supporters evening here in CORE. Jobcare is a Christian organisation committed to working with long-term unemployed people, assisting them gain the confidence, skills and knowledge necessary to seek, find and keep meaningful employment. It was a great night of stories, worship and prayer. Mick Goss shared his story of the impact Jobcare had on his own life over the years. It was encouraging to hear of the work Jobcare continue to do, of the many lives being changed, people recovering from addiction and others being rehabilitated from prison and starting over. If you would like to know more about Jobcare have a look at their website www.jobcare.ie.
