WEEK OF PRAYER & FASTING

WEEK OF PRAYER & FASTING

The week of Prayer and Fasting began on Sunday 16th May. Prior to the commencement of the week, there was teaching on the benefits of Fasting and Prayer. A book recommended by the Church called “Fasting” by J Franklin was entirely sold out and many said they found it very helpful. Also of help was an Information Leaflet which was made available to everyone. Many people in the Church participated and fasted as they Lord lead them for some or all of the week. Some fasted totally from food and others did a partial fast. Many people fasted from TV, Facebook or other non-essential activities. This extra time was devoted to increased prayer, worship and Bible reading. Prayer Meetings were held for four evenings in the Church and each night drew an excellent attendance. The evenings began with worship and were followed by prayer for every person in Core and also many other matters. These included the various activities and ministries within the Church (e.g. Sunday School; Mum 2 Mum; Worship; Welcome; Small Groups; Administration) as well as ministries of outreach to the Community (e.g. Kidz Club; Bingo; Alpha; Prison Ministry). The Lord’s Prayer, the “Our Father”, was used to guide the prayer topics throughout the week. There was prayer for the poor within our city/country and also for other nations including Nepal. An outpouring of prayer for the release of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, including Healing and Prophecy, was experienced during the week. We prayed for the Lord’s hand to guide and lead us going forward. Jon & Kathryn were specifically prayed for on Thursday evening. As the week progressed, the worship and sense of God’s presence seemed to increase in the Church, culminating in a wonderful Service last Sunday 23rd May. One person testified to a miraculous physical healing and there were other reports of God’s grace and divine help which individuals had experienced during the week. Many said that they would like to have an annual week of prayer and fasting, such were the benefits and blessings experienced by people. Several people and Small Groups devoted time to be part of the Worship, Sound and Welcome Teams during the week. Others lead Prayer or did some of the myriad jobs including stacking chairs, opening the Church, administration etc. To anyone who participated in anyway, including preparation, planning, leading, teaching, helping or organising during the week, a heartfelt thanks from Jon & Kathryn and the Leadership Team.

Staged for the first time in 2008 and then in 2009, MAD attracted over 2,000 people. This year the line-up is even more spectacular and amongst the many top acts there are groups like – WORSHIP CENTRAL BAND -Praise for real people from one of the top UK praise bands out of London.
