News from Nepal

News from Nepal

MosaTemang Leader of HOT writes to CORE May 12th 2011
“Nepal is again in a political unrest but God is at work! In 2008, Constituent Assembly members were selected for two years to bring new constitution. They failed to do it and extended the time for one year which will end on May 28. They are not able to introduce even the first draft until now. Therefore it looks like they will try to extend the time again but many people are upset about it. The Christian community of Nepal has started “” days of Global Prayer for Nepal from May 4-June 12, 2011. There are many prayer events during these 40 days. It is such a blessing to work with other leaders as we coordinate prayers together! Prashna & I went to the River Side Prayer on Sunday the 8th May. It was a special time to join with 59 other leaders in Prayer by the River side! We also did some Rafting on the River. It was our joy to see Pastor Megh from Milap Church whom we mentored, give leadership to the River Side Prayer!”

Sports Day Away Review

Sports Day Away Review

Thanks to all who helped run our annual sunshine house sports day away in Ballbriggan this year. The Day was a great success as all the children had fun competing in the races followed by some time at the playground right beside sunshine house. We then all had lunch provided by the excellent staff at sunshine house. We all then headed down to the beach for a sandcastle building competition for some and a swim for others. The best part for me is the awards ceremony after the beach where we get to encourage and affirm each child that they are winners. All the children get a medal regardless of where they came in the competition and then 1st 2nd and 3rd places on each team get trophies. Everyone’s a winner! – Paddy Heron.

Prayer Walk in the Community Review

Prayer Walk in the Community Review

Last night as we walked the streets of Dublin 8 I was reminded of God’s promise to Joshua and the Israelites at a time of transition for them, as they were about to cross the Jordan God promised, “I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses…” (Josh. 1:3). It struck me that we at CORE are at a similar stage, a change in leadership, a crossing the Jordan moment and that this promise is as true for us as it was for them. So as we walked down James Street towards Basin Lane and back along the back streets of Guinness’s we claimed every place we put our feet for him. I am always amazed what you see when you prayer walk that you don’t usually notice, even along well-worn paths new things come to your attention. We prayed for local businesses, for churches, for the people we passed on the street. We went into Solas and prayed for the community in Basin Lane and for the expansion of Solas (to Soilse), not only physically but more significantly in its role in expanding God’s kingdom here in Dublin 8.
We returned to an extravagant feast in the church courtesy of Tricia Rush and the cancelled Haiti Gala. Perfect end to a fairly blustery walk – if only there was the feast at the end of every prayer walk! Thanks to all who came, and watch this space… we may even have Tricia cater the next one!

C.O.R.E Prayer Alert Email

C.O.R.E Prayer Alert Email

The C.O.R.E Prayer Alert E-Mail is a way in which people can receive prayer requests via e-mail and also pray for the needs/requests of others in the Church. If you would like to be part of praying for people in C.O.R.E or their family/friends etc. we would love to help you do this. All you have to do is to give us your e-mail address and then, every so often, you will receive a request to pray for a particular person or situation. There is no commitment other than to pray for the situations when you receive them via e-mail. If you do not already receive these emails and would like to join this list please contact Amy (pa.corechurch@gmail.com).
