Sale of Work – This Saturday 9th July

This Saturday, 9th July we are taking part in a Sale of Work that some ladies from the community are holding outside the church. We are going to be selling tea and coffee, giving away lots of cakes and buns and selling the rest of stuff collected for the flea market. To make this happen we need your help in a few ways:
a) By baking some cakes, buns etc. that we can give away for a donation on the day.
b) By donating books, DVDs, clothes, homeware etc. to be sold.
c) By coming along on the day to serve tea and coffee and man our stall!
If you are able to do none of the above we would still love you to come along on the day, mingle with the locals and maybe even find some bargains!! If you are interested contact James at james@corechurch.ie.

Mainly Music – Review of a very busy term!

Mainly Music has gone really well this term. We had the joy of celebrating Mother’s Day with our Mums and Grandmums. It is a real privilege to commend them on the fantastic job they do with their children. We also had the privilege of celebrating Father’s Day with our Dads and Grandads. We sent home a small gift to each of our Dads and the few men at our session that week received a special gift as well.
Helena, Tricia and Amy attended the first Scottish/Irish Mainly Music conference in Glasgow where we were able to meet other teams from across Scotland as well as our own Dilys and a few of her team who will be starting up in Rathmines towards the end of this year.
We had an “I am growing” theme day for our last session and celebrated with our families whose “big” boys and girls were graduating to start pre-school in September. We received really positive feedback from our families, many of whom say that Mainly Music is the highlight of their children’s week.
For the first time, we held a “Mainly Mums” night for the women- a chance to have some time out and be pampered. There was only a small number due to holidays and desperate weather, but the Mums who came really enjoyed it and we continue to build deeper relationships with these women. We will be having two coffee mornings for our families- one in July and one in August. These are a chance for our families to catch up with each other over the summer break and everyone really looks forward to them.
Please pray that God would continue to provide us with team members for September onwards, particularly for sound/powerpoint and back-up support for admin/welcome, singing/leading and kitchen. We want Mainly Music to be a joy for the team and not be stressed/burnt out making do with the minimum requirements. Please let Helena or Amy know if you’re free on Thursday mornings and would be interested in helping out. Bingo Fundraiser Review and Thank you!!

On Saturday 25th June we held a very successful bingo fundraiser in St Catherine’s. The funds raised are going towards helping 7 of our Kidz klub junior leaders go to a 3rock summer camp with Greg Fromholtz and co this Sunday 10th July. After a very generous donation of €200 at the end of the night we raised €750 and we still have some donations coming in! Thank-you so much to all who came along and supported us on the night and to all others who gave generously even though they couldn’t make it on the night . Blessings, Paddy.

CORE Kids Summer Break –Calling all Parents!!

Summer holidays have nearly come around again and as we do each year we are giving our CORE Kids volunteers a much needed summer break! So we have activity packs, some games and a DVD set up down in the crèche and back tower room for the kids. This space will not be supervised so parents are responsible to keep an eye are their kids! We love having the kids being part of our worship and are asking parents to encourage their kids to be part of this time, especially the older ones! We also ask parents to ensure that their children don’t go onto the balcony during or after the service. Thank you for your help in making this summer break run as smoothly as possible! – CORE Kids Team.
We need a few people to volunteer to set up and take down the DVD, projecter etc. for the next 4 weeks! If you are available on Sunday 17th, 24th, 31st July or 7th August please let Paddy know on paddy@corechurch.ie and he will show you how to set up! Thanks!

Two Apartments for Rent!

Mark and Sarah Railton are moving to Abu Dhabi and are trying to help their landlord find new tenants. It’s a fully furnished, 2 bed apartment in Firhouse, D24, near the 74 and 74a bus routes and a short drive from both luas lines and near The Square and Dundrum and lots of other amenities and it’s in great condition. Marisa and Hendrik Botha are also moving and want to help their landlord find a new tenant. The apartment is located just down the hill from CORE on Ushers Quay, D8. Marisa writes, “two bedroom, two storey, on the 3rd and 4th floor of the building and with a great view overlooking the quays! The landlords have been fantastic; I have lived in the apt for 9 years. The rent has been 950Euro per month including 1 car parking space. Available from July 1st 2011.” If you are interested talk to Marisa or Hendrik on Sunday or contact them via the church office.

Prayer Requests and Thanksgivings

• Continue to pray for Craig and Becky as they prepare to move to Dublin at the end of the summer.
• Pray for Melinda who is recovering from her hip operation last week – pray for a quick recovery and full healing. Also pray for her children Sarah, James and Patrick at this time.
• Pray for all involved with Urban Soul this week, pray for Amy and Paddy as they co-ordinate projects across Dublin 8 and pray it will be a blessed time for the teams and for the people we are reaching out to!
