This Sunday at C.O.R.E

Holy Communion Service with Archbishop of Dublin Michael Jackson
Sermon – Freedom Part 4: Craig Cooney
A note from Paddy…

Some of you may be aware that occasionally we get people coming into the church to ask for money. In my experience I have found that if cash is the thing that is being requested there is usually more to the problem than you are being told and sometimes there is an addiction issue in the person’s life. I would be quite happy for anyone who is asked for money to send the person to me and I will deal with it in a Godly but firm way. Please don’t give cash as this sometimes exacerbates the problem.
JJ Manning – Blues Musician – CD’s for Sale

JJ Manning is a well-known blues musician who attends C.O.R.E. This Sunday his CD’s will be for sale at the welcome desk. They would be a great gift or stocking filler and are a bargain at €8 each, €15 for 2 and €20 for 3. And most importantly all proceeds will go to C.O.R.E!!
Thank You from the Clowns For Haiti

A big thank you to all who gave generously in the Clowns for Haiti Christmas toys and pencil case appeal! It was really moving to see the kids from the flats bring their toys with them to Kidz Klub on Sunday to be brought over to Haitian children for Christmas. Peter is off to Haiti for Christmas this week and will be following by the Santa Claus container! If anybody wants to donate money while the clowns are in Haiti please talk to Dorothy Godsil and she can arrange a money transfer.

Solas Project: Room Request

By now many of you have met our new intern for Solas Project, Lisa. Lisa graduated from school in Germany during the summer and is taking a year out to help her decide what to do next. Lisa is also helping out with Kidz Klub while she is here. For her first month we have found temporary accommodation for her but are looking for somewhere more permanent for her to live when she returns after the Christmas holidays in January until she leaves in August. So do you have a spare room or know someone who does? Lisa will do her own shopping and cooking and we will make a contribution towards heating and electricity bills. If you are interested in helping us out in this way or would like more information please chat to Salla, Graham or Amy or email amy@solasproject.ie.
Car at Christmas Request

Sarah and Mark Railton will be home from Abu Dhabi over Christmas and are wondering if anyone would have a spare car that they could borrow while they are home, or if someone is away and
could lend them there car while they are here or even for part of the time? They are in Ireland from 19th Dec until the 7th Jan.
‘When I was in prison, you visited me’ - Prison Ministry Update

The CORE prison ministry team has been growing as we train for and await the opportunity of bringing our services to other prisons in the Dublin area. There are now seven of us actively involved in the Sunday service at Arbour Hill while some are also visiting individual prisoners for pastoral care. Craig Cooney celebrates Holy Communion in Arbour Hill on the last Friday of each month. Last time eight people attended and we expect this to grow. The Sunday service is more like a home group (not a cell group) who meet in the Chapel. There are around 12 men in our group with around 8 attending each week. We are currently studying Luke and each week a prisoner makes a presentation on a chosen psalm. Worship music is provided by one talented member and two others are learning to play the guitar and are willing to lead worship in time.
Our Christmas Carol Service will be on Friday December 16th at 4.30pm. This is a wonderful annual event with a worship team from CORE teaming with the Prison Choir to bless around 70 prisoners who attend. The service is followed by a reception with soft drinks and lots of savories and cakes. This event gives members of CORE an opportunity to see inside the prison, fellowship with the inmates and develop relationships. This year we wish to invite people who might consider being an occasional visitor to a chosen prisoner who may never otherwise receive visits. Even writing a letter or taking an occasional phone call can make a huge difference to such a prisoner. So if you wish to attend the Carol service this year please let Amy Carey or Philip Larragy know before December 10th.
Our Saturday football game in Arbour Hill has been inactive for some months now, but we hear Mick Goss is recruiting a new team. Interested in some challenging exercise? – see Mick!
If nothing else please pray for prisoners. This month we highlight Prisons Week (November 20th – 26th) as a time for reflection, prayer and commitment to making change in our attitude to our prison population. Please pray each day during Prisons week but also ask yourself whether there is one thing that you as an individual can do to assist prisoners, their families, and victims of offenders, prison staff and all those who care. For information and prayer guidelines please visit www.prisonsweek.org
Prayer Requests and Thanksgivings

Give thanks for the wonderful evening we had at our Baptism Service on Sunday night, continue to pray for those who were baptised that they would know God at work in their lives in fresh ways (see C.O.R.E Church facebook page for photos).
Thank you for continuing to keep Tómas Kennedy in prayer, as his chemotherapy continues. His family are really grateful for the on-going prayer for healing for Tómas.
Pray for the finances of the church that we would see God’s provision in order to continue the work that God has called us to.
Pray for healing for Rhys (a nephew of Sarah&Mark Railton) who is in hospital with pneumonia.
Please pray safety for Peter Gannon as he travels to Haiti, with other Volunteers, with the Clowns for Haiti Project. Pray that they would bring Joy and hope to all they meet.
