Sparklers is a safe and fun place for children between the ages of three and six to learn about God and his love for them. The aim of any Sparklers session is that the children will come away with one new idea about God in their lives. The sessions provide familiarity for the children in terms of format (stories, drama, games, chat, singing, prayer and art) and great variety and unpredictability in the activities that can range from ‘camping’ to bread making to ‘sailing’. This all leads to an enjoyable and informal learning environment where the pace is set by the children, rather than by the material and a child can sit-out any activity if necessary.
Sparklers is a place
• To encourage, pray for, teach and set an example for the children. • Where children can belong, have fun, feel safe, grow, learn, enjoy friendship and be stimulated and supported. • Where children can encounter Jesus, grow in knowing him in their hearts and become more like Him. • Where the Holy Spirit can move amongst the children and impact on their lives. • To support families in that Christian values taught in the home are complemented, reinforced and confirmed by the larger church community.
Sparklers is also a welcoming place for visiting children and feedback to us has been very positive in this regard.
The age difference is small, but there can be a difference in terms of attention span, writing and reading skills. However this is manageable and it is wonderful to see new Sparklers begin to develop and belong within a few months of attendance.
