To see lives set alight by the revelation of God, and fanned into flame to minister Jesus in the world
CORE Kids Vision Statement
Here at CORE we believe that whatever age we are we can have a relationship with Jesus and be involved in seeing His Kingdom come here on earth. CORE Kids want to reflect CORE’s vision of seeing the outsider welcomed in by trying to the best of our ability to welcome children of all ages, backgrounds and abilities into our groups and to show them all the love and acceptance that Jesus modelled.
Our prayer is that whatever their age, the children who come to CORE Kids will be given the space and encouragement to meet with Jesus, not only learn about him, to see their lives being set alight by becoming a friend of Jesus and encouraged to fan that relationship into flame, that they would know Jesus all their lives and so be able to reach out to those who don’t yet know Him.
Jesus said ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life’
John 8:12
I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
2 Timothy 1:6
Sunday Groups
CORE Kids is for all children before they join senior school and we currently have four Sunday groups for the different ages. Fireflies is for babies from birth to three years, Sparklers is for children aged three to six years, Aglow for you if you’re between six & nine and if you’re between nine & twelve you’ll be heading to Blaze.
Check out the links at the top of the page for more information on what happens in each of these groups, to meet the team leaders and for information on how to know if you’re ready to move up to the next group.
In CORE Kids we use Scripture Union’s range of Bible based learning resources called ‘Light’. One of the reasons we chose this is because it teaches the same topic to all ages at the same time. This means that when we come together as a church family on the second Sunday of the month for our Family Services we have all been learning about the same topic and mums and dads (and the rest of the church family!) can join in and see just what we’ve been up to!
How does CORE Kids happen?!
CORE Kids only exists because of a fantastic team of committed volunteers made up of a cross section of the church. If you are interested in getting involved with one of the groups or helping in the Family Services we would love to hear from you! Chat with one of the team leaders or Kathryn Kissell to find out more.
We do ask that if you come to CORE regularly and have a child in CORE Kids that you would be willing to join the rota of one of the groups. By doing this it helps to ensure that everyone is only on the rota once a month.
CORE follows the Church of Ireland’s Code of best practise for those working with children. To find out more about what this means for you and your children click here.
More FUN!
With so many children coming to the church on Saturdays and Sundays it’s great to all come together for some extra special events. We’ve had a great Olympics Sports Day, spectacular Christmas Party and amazing Christian Illusionist so far, and there’s much more to come!
These events are definitely worth looking out for, there’s about one a term and it’ll be advertised both at CORE and at Kidz Klub.
